Madecassic acid has promising preliminary activity against liver cancer cells. Its activity is known to be improved through chemical modification. We have been seeking to understand the molecular mechanisms of madecassic acid's activity so that it would be possible to design target-based modifications of the compound which would further improve activity.

This dataset contains proteomics and RNAseq data. The proteomics was performed by attaching a photoaffinity tag to madecassic acid, and using this to pull down proteins with which madecassic acid was interacting from HepG2 liver cancer cell lysate. Proteins were identified using MSMS. The dataset contains the vehicle control, the tagged compound, and the tagged compound in the presence of pure madecassic acid at varying concentrations as a competitor. The RNAseq data looks at the differences in gene expression compared to the no-treatment group using madecassic acid and a modified version each at 1x and 3x their GI50, at 6 hours and 24 hours post treatment.

This data should be understood within the context of the related materials.
