<p dir="ltr">This dataset is an anonymised version of the data used to conduct the randomised controlled trial analyses of the Nuffield Foundation-funded project "Teaching Grammar and Writing in primary schools: an evaluation of Englicious" with results reported in <a href="https://discovery.ucl.ac.uk/id/eprint/10144257" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">this report</a> and in a forthcoming article in Social Indicators Research.</p><p dir="ltr">The comma separated value text file contains the following variables:</p><ul><li>treat = Treatment/Control allocation </li><li>batch = Randomisation batch (1, 2 or 3)</li><li>fsmstrat / ealstrat = Randomisation strata based on school FSM and EAL proportions (Low, Medium or High)</li><li>stratum = Combined randomisation stratum variable based on batch, fsmstrat and ealstrat (_STstratum_* provide binary variables for each of these for convenience)</li><li>Female = Female gender (0 or 1)</li><li>FSM = Eligible for free school meals (0 or 1)</li><li>EAL = English as an Additional Language (0 or 1)</li><li>piw_long_score = Primary outcome measure of Progress in Writing long score</li><li>piw_short_score = Progress in Writing short score at baseline</li><li>sc_base_score = Sentence combining score at baseline (and components thereof)</li><li>sc_end_score = Sentence combining score at outcome (and components thereof)</li><li>piw_short_scoregroup = School-level average of piw_short_score</li><li>sc_base_scoregroup = School-level average of sc_base_score</li><li>Femalegroup = School-level average of Female</li><li>FSMgroup = School-level average of FSM</li><li>EALgroup = School-level average of EAL</li><li>avgPIE = School-level average of piw_short_score from pre-COVID</li><li>avgSGT = School-level average of sc_base_score from pre-COVID</li><li>index = Continuous measure of treatment fidelity</li><li>comply = Binary measure of treatment fidelity</li><li>pupil_anonid = Anonymised pupil ID</li><li>sch_anonid = Anonymised class/school ID</li><li>piw_marker_anonid = Anonymised progress in writing marker ID (_MPpiw_* provide binary variables for each of these for convenience)</li><li>sc_marker_anonid = Anonymised sentence combining marker ID (_MSsc_* provide binary variables for each of these for convenience)</li></ul><p></p>
